How to Check Thermostat Settings in AC by technics Expert

1. Set the Mode to “Cool”

Make sure your thermostat is set to “Cool” mode. Sometimes it may be on “Fan” or “Heat” by mistake.

2. Adjust the Temperature

Set the temperature at least 3–5°C lower than the current room temperature. For example, if the room is 28°C, set the thermostat to 23–24°C.

3. Check for Display or Power Issues

If the screen is blank:

  • Replace the batteries (for battery-operated thermostats)

  • Check the circuit breaker or power supply

4. Fan Settings

Make sure the fan setting is on “Auto”, not “On”.

  • “Auto” runs the fan only when cooling is needed.

  • “On” runs the fan continuously even without cooling.

5. Use a Room Thermometer (Optional)

Place a basic thermometer near the AC to confirm if the room is cooling to the set temperature.

Still not working? The issue could be with the thermostat sensor, remote control, or indoor PCB unit. Call a professional like Technics Expert in Trivandrum for quick diagnosis.
